Our Friends in the Community CSR programme includes three distinct elements:
Local Schools Programme
The first element sees our staff volunteer their time and skills with local schools. The schools are DEIS schools which means they are in an area of social or economic disadvantage.
Skills @ Work is a career development programme for 5th year students of St Laurence’s College. A number of these students are considered to be at risk of dropping out before their Leaving Certificate.
On November 23rd the 5th year students of Laurence’s College visited the Friends First office. During their visit the students met staff who volunteered to talk about their careers and show them what their day-to-day work entails.
Later in the school term, the students will return to the Friends First office and be given guidance and coaching on CV content and interview technique. Practice interviews will be carried out with the students to improve their interview skills and prepare them for real job interviews.
At Friends First we believe that by acting responsibly across our business, we can deliver sustainable positive value to all stakeholders and make a strong social and environmental contribution. By using our resources and skills, as a company, we endeavor to develop long-term value for all our stakeholders: our customers, employees, financial brokers and the community.
