Why you need Specified Illness Cover
We all hope it never happens, but if you are diagnosed with a serious illness, or have a bad accident that knocks you out of action, your finances should be the last thing on your mind.

What is covered?
47 illnesses are fully covered, meaning you will get a tax-free lump sum if you are diagnosed with any of them.
These could include illnesses like cancer, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, traumatic head injury, or coronary artery surgery.
21 additional illnesses and serious accidents are partially covered. This means that you will get a tax-free partial payment if you make a claim.
This partial payment could include illnesses such as serious accident cover, pituitary tumour, significant visual impairment, or low level prostate cancer.
How it works
If you have already been diagnosed with one of the illnesses covered by our Specified Illness Cover, you may not be able to obtain cover.
Choose the amount of cover you want
Decide how much money you would need to tide you over until you are back on your feet.
Choose the length of the cover
How long would you like your cover to last?
Think about increasing your cover
You can add specified illness cover to your life protection policy to give you even more protection.
Consider your options
Your Financial Broker will take you through all of the above decisions and help you decide whether this plan is right for you.
Once you have decided what you want, we get your policy set up and you start making your annual or monthly payments.
Making a claim
If you are out of action because of one of the illnesses named in the policy or because of a serious accident, we pay you a lump (or partial) sum, that can help you manage the costs associated with your condition.
Making a claim is easy and your dedicated claims handler will support you every step of the way. You can make a partial claim on your policy and still make a full claim at a later time.
What it costs
How much you pay will depend on:
- Your age
- Your health status
- Whether you are a smoker
- How much cover you want
Louise, a 27-year-old non-smoker, decides to take out €200,000 worth of cover over a 20-year period.
Louise pays: €38.75 per month, which works out at about €1.27 a day.*
