Friends First have been awarded the Alternatives Investment Manager of the Year award at the Irish Pensions Awards 2015. This was Friends First inaugural year to enter the awards, which are now in their 4th year and which experienced the highest number of entries this year, making it an even greater achievement.
Commenting on the win, Tom Browne, CEO, Friends First said “This award is great recognition for our entire investment team, their hard work, dedication and strategic approach to the alternatives investment sector. We see this award as a real acknowledgement of Friends First excellence in and impact on the alternatives market, a sector which we firmly believe in.”
The Irish Pensions Awards, in association with European Pensions, aim to give recognition to those pension funds and providers who have proved their excellence, professionalism and dedication to maintaining high standards of Irish pension provision over the past year.
Friends First beat off stiff competition to secure the Alternatives Investment Manager of the Year award. We have a strong history in this sector being the first company to introduce alternative hedge funds into the Irish retail market in 2001 when we launched the Insight Currency fund – Ireland’s first, and still only, currency fund. We continually research new investment ideas to meet our objective of ensuring that our investors have access to investments that can bring different qualities to their investment portfolios.
During 2015 we introduced two new alternative strategies – the CALM Euro Equity fund, which provides exposure to Eurozone equity markets within strict risk limits, and the Multi Strategy Global Bond fund which employs several strategies in its aim of delivering cash +3% returns within a low risk framework.
