Friends First Volunteers

Friends First, along with our peers in JLT who operate from the same office building, were once again delighted to support the Irish Cancer Society Daffodil Day on 23 March 2018. The Irish Cancer Society is one of three charity partners supported by Friends First. Other partners include Lessons for Life and Aware. The aim of the partnership is to promote mutually beneficial engagement and support between the charity and Friends First, which includes fundraising and staff volunteering to work with the selected charities.
Friends First joined thousands of volunteers across the county who were united in their efforts to raise funds for the fight against cancer. There was an array of silk daffodils and pins for sale along with Butlers Chocolate Easter bunnies and freshly baked cupcakes in the Friends First office. There was also a raffle for giant Butlers Chocolate Easter egg baskets and chocolate goodie bags.
In total over €3,000 was raised between staff donations and matching Friends First funds.

There isn’t a community in Ireland that hasn’t been affected by cancer, which is precisely why Daffodil Day is so important. As the leading individual income protection insurer in Ireland we feel that supporting activities such as Daffodil Day are aligned with our core health insurance business as they support health awareness and well-being. Recent statistics show that Cancer was the third biggest cause of income protection claims in 2017.
The Irish Cancer Society provides free, nationwide care services for those with, and affected by, cancer in Ireland. Thanks to the continued support of our staff along with many other businesses and communities across Ireland we have better treatments, better ways to detect cancer earlier, and more knowledge about how to prevent it in the first place.
Friends First believe that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is not just a function or department but a philosophy integrated into our company. It is how we operate our business and stems directly from our core values.
