Friends First is delighted to be a supporting partner to the Abbey Theatre’s new tour, the sell-out success, Jimmy’s Hall. Bursting with music, dance, poetry and song, the must-see feel-good show of last year returns for audiences in Limerick, Dublin, Galway and Cork this summer.
Commenting on the sponsorship of this new tour, Brian O’Neill, Strategic Marketing Director, Friends First commented, “Friends First is proud to support the Abbey Theatre for a second year running to bring a unique and exciting production to various regional locales throughout Ireland. As a business focused on community development we value the contribution the theatre makes to our culture. We are delighted to continue to contribute to this rich heritage through our involvement in bringing this stellar performance to local communities.”
Jimmy’s Hall tells the true story of Leitrim farmer Jimmy Gralton, the only Irishman deported from his own country for his political beliefs. Jimmy’s crime was to build a dance hall where he encouraged the local community to learn, to argue and to dream, but above all to dance and have fun.
Directed by Graham McLaren, the production had its world premiere in a school hall in Leitrim – near the site of the original hall in Effrinagh – before transferring to a sold-out run at the Abbey Theatre last year.
Jimmy’s Hall will open in the Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick on the 14 of July, in advance of runs at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Town Hall Theatre in Galway and Cork Opera House.
