Friends First is delighted that our employee Health and Wellness programme ‘Friends in the Workplace’ shortlisted for the Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards 2018. We recognise each of our employee’s unique contribution to the success of Friends First and therefore it is important that we have a fully functioning health and wellness programme to ensure our employees enjoy a happy, healthy work environment. We do so by providing a wide range of supports and activities through our ‘Friends in the Workplace’ initiative. Examples of some of the features we’ve been using are:
- Laya HeartBeat, Cholesterol & Diabetes Testing
- Running club
- Pilates classes
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) with a Freephone number set up to provide confidential advice and support
- Sports and Social Programme
- Seminars e.g. healthy eating/sleep/parenting/mental and emotional health
- Subsidised restaurant – lunch time menus are updated daily and contain labels to guide people on healthy options
“We are delighted to be shortlisted for the awards this year. As the leading income protection insurer in Ireland we feel that providing an engaging Health and Wellness programme for our employees is aligned with our core health insurance business as it supports health awareness, prevention of illness and well-being. It’s great to receive external recognition for the positive impact the programme has had in our workplace.” commented Brian O’Neill, Strategic Marketing Director at Friends First. “The nomination is independent verification of our dedication and contribution to this important initiative. The Friends First Health and Wellness programme is an important part of our overall CSR programme and the success of which is due to the hard work of our Health and Wellness champions and the enthusiasm of our staff to engage with the programme.”
The awards are designed to recognise and reward the companies and individuals who are dedicated to improving the lives of their employees and enhancing the environment in which they operate. The nominations acknowledge our efforts to deliver sustainable positive value to all stakeholders and make a strong social and environmental contribution through our ‘Friends in the Workplace’ initiative and the overall Friends First CSR programme.
